Meet Michelangelo
In cooperation with Telfair Museums and the Exhibition Michelangelo’s Women: Images of Female Power and Divinity
Michelangelo was a sculptor, painter, architect and poet whose work helped define the Italian Renaissance.
The exhibition at the Telfair Museum is the first ever to focus on the artist’s female imagery and on the women who influenced him and preserved his legacy. Drawn from the historic collections of Michelangelo’s own family, it is organized exclusively for Telfair Museums and will not be seen elsewhere in the U.S.
The programs and lectures at The Learning Center examine Michelangelo’s life, work and artistic legacy, including an overview of his career, his portrayals of women and a closer look at six of his best-known works.

Historian Miles Unger explores the storied life of Michelangelo through the lens of six of the master’s works. Compelling readings, guided group discussions, and stunning slide images characterize this interactive discussion course.

An old man obsessed with his own eternal destiny, Michelangelo painted The Last Judgement and carved the Pietas for his own tomb.
