Meals on Wheels: More Than Just a Meal
Nutritious Meals, Friendly Faces, and Peace of Mind.
For more than six decades, Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI) has been dedicated to helping people age successfully. Long before Meals on Wheels became a national movement, SCI was delivering hot meals to 13 older adults in Savannah. Today, we proudly serve as the official Meals on Wheels partner for coastal Georgia, providing more than 1,600 meals each day across 6 counties.
This fall, we’ll celebrate an incredible milestone — our 7 millionth meal delivered — a testament to both our history of compassion and our mission to help older adults remain independent and connected.
If you or someone you love could use a helping hand, Meals on Wheels may be the perfect solution
Meals on Wheels is about far more than food.
Each delivery represents:
Nutritious and Delicious Meals
Meals are prepared fresh in our SCI kitchen, designed to provide the right balance of protein, vegetables, and grains — healthy and flavorful every time. We even collaborate with some of Savannah’s finest chefs to bring creativity and joy to the menu. Nutritious food is the foundation for strength, independence, and overall wellness. Current menu
Friendly Visits
Every delivery is more than a meal. Volunteers bring a smile, a conversation, and a connection. For many clients, this daily visit is the highlight of their day and a powerful antidote to social isolation.
Wellness Checks
Each knock on the door is also a safety check. Our volunteers and driver notice when something seems “off” and alert family or emergency services if needed. This peace of mind means families know their loved ones are never forgotten.
Who Can Receive Meals on Wheels?
Senior Citizens Inc. service Meals on Wheels to older adults living in Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Bryan, Camden, and McIntosh counties.
For many, the cost of meals is covered through grant funding based on income eligibility.
For others, meals are available at a low private-pay rate, ensuring access to anyone in need.
