Meals & Nutrition:

Essential for Aging Successfully.

Eating well fuels aging successfully. As we age, our bodies change — metabolism slows, appetite may shift, and hydration becomes more important than ever. Good nutrition plays a central role in supporting the Body pillar of successful aging, helping older adults stay strong, independent, and active in their communities.

But healthy eating isn’t always easy. Limited mobility, fixed incomes, or social isolation can make it difficult to shop for or prepare balanced meals. That’s why Senior Citizens Inc. has made nutrition a cornerstone of our services for more than 65 years.

Through Meals on Wheels, we deliver food that is both nutritious and delicious, made fresh daily in our own kitchen. Each meal is carefully balanced to meet the dietary needs of older adults, but it’s more than what’s on the plate. With every delivery comes a wellness check and a reminder that no one is forgotten.

Meals on Wheels programs nationwide have shown that seniors who receive meals report feeling less isolated and more secure. In fact, according to Meals on Wheels America, 92% of recipients say the service helps them remain living at home where they want to be.

Why Nutrition Matters for Aging Successfully

  • Stronger bodies: Protein and essential nutrients support muscle, bone, and heart health.

  • Sharper minds: A balanced diet is linked to better memory and mood.

  • Fuller lives: Sharing meals and knowing someone cares reduces isolation and builds community.
