Senior Citizens Inc. Launches Annual Fan Drive to Keep Older Adults Safe During Savannah’s Summer Heat

 Savannah, GA — [May 20, 2025] — As Savannah enters another season of extreme heat and humidity, Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI) is launching its annual Fan Drive to help older adults stay cool, safe, and healthy during the summer months. The Fan Drive collects new box fans to distribute to older adults in need—especially those who do not have access to air conditioning or who struggle to afford increased utility costs. High temperatures can be dangerous for older adults, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, and other serious health complications. Read more

(SCI), celebrated its 65th anniversary at the Legends, Leaders and Life Well Lived Luncheon on Thursday, May 9, 2025, at The Palmetto Club at The Landings. The luncheon honored three outstanding individuals who exemplify what it means to live a life of service, compassion, and community impact. This year’s honorees are; Dr. Otis S. Johnson – A trailblazing leader and former Savannah mayor, Camille O’Neill – A devoted educator and community servant, and Lt. (Ret.) John A.
