Gullah Connections

  • 3025 Bull Street Savannah, Georgia 31405 United States (map)

Gullah Geechee communities have influenced Savannah since the early 1700s, though their impact and stories aren't documented solely in this region. Dr. Maxine Bryant, Director of the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center at the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University, takes participants on a journey to explore the roots of the Gullah Geechee community, from the U.S. all the way to Africa.

Dr. Maxine Bryant is a professor at Georgia Southern University where she also directs the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Center on the Armstrong Campus and heads GSU’s Africana Center.
