We think we know what we mean when we say “the South,” or do we? This lighthearted presentation attempts to define the region geographically and culturally, all the while answering the question, “What makes the South the South?” Roger Smith is the founding director of The Learning Center of Senior Citizens, Inc. Prior to joining SCI in 2006, Roger was the director of education at the Georgia Historical Society, a role in which he planned and presented history programs for young people and adults throughout the state. He is a former museum educator in Savannah and a classroom teacher of American literature. Lecture and lunch free; registration required by August 1. Space is limited.
